Coach and staff
The coach decides how much you train and the team's style; the staff (at most 4 people, 2 of whom can be assistant coaches) move form, team spirit, confidence and injuries.
Coach effectiveness
- Offensive: +7.4% attack, −12% defence. Defensive: +12.8% defence, −11.8% attack. Neutral: no effect.
- Leadership: after the first season, each week there is a 1/3 chance that it drops by 1/8 of a level; a "solid" one becomes "passable" in 112–400 days. Once it reaches "disastrous", within a few weeks the coaching level starts to drop too.
- Level and form: level 5 +0.6; 4 +0.48; 3 +0.35; 2 +0.21; 1 no bonus.
What a coach costs
Promoting a player = €4,750,000 × a / (experience − 1)
a = 7.11 for level 5; 1.00 for level 4; 0.296 for level 3; 0.037 for level 2. Level 1 always costs €10,000. Example: titanic experience 15.3 → level 5 for about 2.36 million.
| External coach | Poor leadership | Solid leadership |
|---|---|---|
| Level 2 | €10,000 | €94,600 |
| Level 3 | €79,600 | €757,100 |
| Level 4 | €268,700 | €2,555,500 |
| Level 5 | €4,000,000 | €18,172,500 |
In the original the level 3 and 4 rows seem swapped: here they are in price order. Since 2023 coaches hired from outside cannot play; those promoted from the squad can stay players (player-coach) and get both wages.
The staff
- Assistant coaches (up to 2): faster training and better background form, but a higher injury risk.
- The injury risk is fixed during the match: it depends on assistant coaches, medic and training intensity.
- The medic shortens injuries; the form coach improves form.
- The sports psychologist raises confidence (which helps the attack) and the level team spirit and confidence move towards.
| Sports psychologist | Team spirit | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | +0.1 | +0.24 |
| Level 2 | +0.2 | +0.48 |
| Level 3 | +0.3 | +0.70 |
| Level 4 | +0.4 | +0.92 |
| Level 5 | +0.5 | +1.12 |
